Information on HUD Homes
There are some good bargains available in pre-foreclosure and foreclosed homes. When homeowners do not make payments on their mortgage, their house can be repossessed. Some homes are then owned by banks, the Veterans' Administration or HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development).
HUD acquired properties being offered for the first time are announced each week on Friday. Bids with earnest money and lender approval must be received by the Sunday 9 days later at 11:59 p.m. The highest bidder according to the HUD system will be notified. If a property receives no winning bids, bids are accepted on a daily basis. The highest bid on any given day that meets HUD's requirements can then purchase the property.
